Palmetto Painters, a South Carolina Chapter of the National Society of Tole & Decorative Painters

Palmetto Painters is a South Carolina Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters ("SDP"). Our Chapter gathers on the second Saturday of each month for a business meeting followed by a painting project. These projects are taught by our Chapter members or a local guest. Our members enjoy painting in all mediums (acrylic, oil, fabric, silk, watercolor) and are always ready to experience something new and different. We provide refreshments (drinks & some food) at each meeting.

Meeting Place: Meeting place is Green Hill Baptist Church, 1734 Augusta Road, West Columbia, SC unless otherwise stated in the newsletter. See Newsletter page.

Meeting Time: 10:00 a.m., 2^nd Saturday of each month

Membership: $15/year; All members must be members in good standing of SDP (SDP membership is $35 year and includes A subscription to The Decorative Painter, a bi-monthly magazine featuring articles from nationally recognized teachers.)

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Chapter shall be, in common with that of SDP stimulate interest in, and appreciation for, the art of decorative painting.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of this Chapter shall be:

1. To provide a meeting ground for those who are interested in decorative painting.

2. To upgrade and broaden members’ knowledge and experience in decorative painting through education and communications by conducting programs, workshops, seminars, study trips, group study seminars and social functions.

3. To hold exhibits for educational purposes of decorative painting.

4. To hold or sponsor attendance at exhibits of decorative painting for educational purposes.

5. To work with the Society of Decorative Painters and other chapters to upgrade the status of decorative painting.

6. To cooperate with other professions and associations related to decorative painting.

7. To award recognition for meritorious achievement in the field of decorative painting.

The powers of this Chapter are to further purposes and objectives above enumerated, but shall not be in limitation thereof.
